Nature

Nature class is a favorite of all Putnam Indian Field School students, as they explore the wider and less traveled parts of our campus with our Nature Teacher – currently the son of School Founder Fred Wierdsma. In small groups led by an avid naturalist, after greeting the fish in the large tank at the front door and opening the “magic doors” to the outside world, the children traverse and observe the landscape of our three-acre campus, collect and investigate items found in the natural world, and even take a turn breezing through the trees on the tree trolley (a sort of zip line suited for our young children).
