Putnam Indian Field School

Inspiring confidence, curiosity, creativity and a sense of community in every child we teach

PIFS is an independent, co-educational preschool for toddlers through pre-k.

Classes

Putnam Indian Field School offers a variety of enrollment opportunities including half-day and three-, four-, and five-day options, depending on the age of the child. Classes are formed in three bands, Toddler, Nursery, and Connecting & Pre-K, and within these age bands students are grouped by age so that teachers can thoughtfully attend to the specific developmental needs of their students.

Resource Rooms

At Putnam Indian Field School, our four resource rooms—Science, Nature, Music & Movement, and Sensory & Studio Art—offer hands-on learning experiences. Children explore experiments and live animals in Science, connect with the outdoors in Nature, develop coordination and rhythm in Music & Movement, and express creativity through painting and sensory play in Sensory & Studio Art. These spaces inspire curiosity, confidence, and creativity.

Children explore and interact with live animals while discovering life cycles, seasons, and scientific concepts through hands-on learning.

Outdoor exploration fosters curiosity and environmental awareness through gardening, seasonal changes, and sensory experiences.

Children develop coordination and creativity through music, dance, and rhythmic play, enhancing self-expression and cognitive growth.

Creative expression thrives with painting, sculpting, and sensory play, building fine motor skills, confidence, and a lifelong love for the arts and self-expression.
